Earnhardt / Said to pilot C5R!

Corvette C5-R number 8 to be driven by Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Being in the spotlight is nothing new for the people at Corvette Racing. But at the June 18 Infineon Grand Prix of Sonoma, the glare will be a lot brighter and the focus more intense because of the third car that Pratt & Miller is entering in the two-hour, 45-minute race.

Corvette C5-R number 8 will be driven by NASCAR Nextel Cup star Dale Earnhardt Jr. and road racing veteran Boris Said. For Said, driving the Corvette may be new but the territory is not. He is an experienced and successful road racer, and he won pole position at Infineon for the Nextel Cup race there in 2003.

This will be Earnhardt’s second race in a Corvette C5-R. In 2001, he drove one with his father, the late Dale Earnhardt, along with Andy Pilgrim and Kelly Collins, in the 24 Hours of Daytona. They finished fourth overall and second in class in that race, which was won overall by their teammates, Ron Fellows, Johnny O’Connell, Chris Kneifel and Franck Freon.
